Assignment: Twinning!!
What would it look like if you "twinned" with another person in your class?
- Take a photo of someone in your class and take one of you.
- Pose for the photos with the white or simple background, match the pose, face straight forward, like you are taking a passport photo.
- Use your layering skills to morph yourself and another person.
- Now the idea is complete believably (as opposed to coneheads).
STEPS:
- Download portraits of you and your classmate
- Crop them to 3" wide x 4" high - 200ppi
- Use similar skills that you did with the Mutant Me project - layers, erasing on layers, color correction
- Give your new creepy twin a combo-celebrity name like Brangelina, Kimye, Bennifer
- Save each photo as a JPEG
- Open the 3 JPEGS and combine them into ONE Photoshop file (You + Classmate = Creepy Twin)
- Use alignment/distribution tool to line up and space images
- Saves as JPEG and Post to your blog (Majors)
- MAJOR GRADE
- You will be graded on smoothness, believability, creativity, neatness, use of tools in Photopea.com.
- Upload your original photos of yourself and classmate and your final images to your Google Classroom Assignment
- Tell me about who you took a photo of and about your new creation (minimum 3-5 sentences)
- Upload your layered files (PSD) to your Google Drive.

Easy Pixlr.com Double Exposure Tutorial
Create a double exposure effect using Pixlr editor. In this quick double exposure portrait tutorial show you how to create a double exposure effect using several images, masking and layer modes.
- Download any 2 photos you find on the internet (school appropriate) or you can use photos you have taken.
- The photos should relate to each other in some way.
- You will creating this assignment in PIXLR.COM

- Research and download an image from the internet, perferably similar to the example in this tutorial. When searching for you image, in google images, select TOOLS - SIZE - LARGE
- Follow the directions
- When complete, post JPEG to Google Classroom and PSD files to Minor assignments in your Google Drive

Today we will begin a 3-4 day project.
- Friday: Design on Paper
- Monday: Begin Designing in Adobe Illustrator

Materials you will need:- Blank white paper

- Create your font in Illustrator
- take photo of your design, trace each letter in Illustrator
- After you have created your Font Alphabet (Individually traced, letters A-Z, numbers 0-9, and the other characters) you will need to save each letter individually as a SVG file
- In illustrator, create a new document that is 2" by 2" with 67 artboards
- place each individual character on each artboard
- Before saving, select each letter and Click:
- Object -> Expand -> Press Okay
- then go to your Pathfinder window and click -> Unite
Save each individual letter/character as a SVG file
STEP 3: Make your FONT from your SVG files

Go to https://icomoon.io/app/#/select
>Click on IMPORT ICONS
Select the Folder where you saved your 67 SVG files
>SELECT all by clicking CTRL+A>CLICK OK
If this screen pops up - FIX YOUR LETTERS that you had not used the EXPAND option in Adboe Illustrator
> Click GENERATE FONT
Change code icons to correct Key Stroke (example for number 1 type 1, for Capital A type SHIFT+a)
After you change all the small boxes to the correct keystroke, > click the icon next to GENERATE FONT
> Click DOWNLOAD
> Right click on the folder, > Click EXTRACT ALL, > Click EXTRACT
Located and Open the Extracted Files
Open Folder Labeled: FONTS
Locate file TYPE - TrueTYPE font
>RIGHT CLICK, > CLICK Preview
OPTION 1
Go to Google Classroom Assignment:
> Click ADD / Create
> Upload your TRUE TYPE FONT (located in the Font Folder in the Download you just extracted)
> Click TURN-IN
-1.5 pts for every font character missing or not correct - MAJOR GRADE
OPTION 2:
Create PDF and Upload to Google Classroom:
Locate Extracted Font File
Locate TRUE TYPE FONT
> RIGHT CLICK
> CLICK Preview screen will open,
> CLICK Print - SELECT > Print as a PDF
> CLICK, ADOBE PDF
> Click PREFERENCES,
> Uncheck RELY ON SYSTEM FONTS
> CLICK OK
Post PDF to Google Classroom Assignment for MAJOR GRADE
You are not able to install the font on your desktop or chromebook but you can on a personal computer at home. If you would like to install at home, I recommend you upload your file to Google Drive and Download onto your personal device.
Weds, 9/14:
Make a cheeseburger using shapes and colors. You have 1 class block to complete this assignment.- Open Adobe Illustrator
- Click FILE, New
- On the NEW DOCUMENT SCREEN
- Name: YourFirstName_Burger
- New Doc Profile: PRINT
- Size: Letter
- CLICK - OK
- Now using any tool you can figure out - play around with Illustrator and create a cheeseburger.
- Save AI (adobe Illustrator File) to your desktop
- Upload to your Google Drive
- EXPORT file for Blogger and Google Classroom Assignment,
- click FILE
- Click EXPORT
- click the desktop icon,
- on bottom drop menu (SAVE as type) select, PNG
- click use artboards
- click SAVE
- Upload your Cheeseburger to the blog
- Check out to your classmates blogs and comment on at least 2
- This is a MINOR grade - you have 1 class to complete, but since we had assemblies yesterday I know some of you need extra time to finish Monday's project. Both Assignments will be due by FRIDAY, 9/17 at beginning of class.
